The Morning Commute

by Dustin and Lindsay Price of Texas Glazing Solutions, Inc.

An occupation in the profession of glass and aluminum is quite amazing in that our work is on display for everyone to see, including ourselves. Our products work together like permanent ensembles the architect has chosen for the building to wear. That chosen attire comes in many different designs with lots of options for accessories, both functional and ornamental.

“The unique projects push us harder, often yielding impressive results.”
As independent reps, we work with glaziers of all shapes and sizes. Some smaller with a focus on more standard projects, and others much larger, chasing the bigger and more unique jobs. We travel quite a bit as our territory covers Texas, Louisiana, and Oklahoma, and we love to take note of the buildings/architecture as we travel. We admire unique design elements, the features that push the envelope on what the glaziers are able to accomplish. We appreciate the contemporary buildings the most, noting the architect’s response to what is now possible in the design realm. While the basic straight forward stuff is easy, the unique stuff pushes us harder, and often ends up yielding some impressive results that are exciting to see.

“The small details can make all the difference in a powerful design.”
Think about the projects you notice most every day on your commute to the office, taking your kids to school, or just your daily routine around your community. There are buildings that capture your eye every time. Some may be eyesores that you question the thoughts behind, and others are remarkable works of art. It is truly amazing how some of the small details can add so much style and influence.

“A vibrant design both impacts and complements the community it resides in.”
Speaking of which, we’ve got photos to share of a stunning new project we worked on called the Symphony Square Offices by Dynamic Glass. The project is located in Austin, TX at the corner of E 12th St. and Red River Street, near Waterloo Park and the Symphony Square Amphitheater. Our aluminum sunshade partner, AGS, Inc. manufactured the copper finished aluminum vertical panels seen attaching to the curtainwall. You have got to love the way the copper finish plays on the adjacent deep indigo façade. It’s so exciting to take part in vibrant projects such as this, that both impact and complement the culturally rich community in which it resides.

“Share your favorite design and tell us how it impacts the community.”
